Policy against harassment and violence in the workplace
PREAMBLE
This policy is an integral part of Movie Magic International S.r.l.’s Gender Equality Policy. For Movie Magic, which operates in audiovisual production (e.g., advertising spots, video content, and creative projects), ensuring safe, respectful, and harassment-free workplaces is not only a regulatory or organizational obligation but also a social responsibility aligned with its mission and the operational standards of the sector. This policy is part of the Gender Equality Management System and contributes to compliance with the requirements of UNI/PdR 125:2022.
PURPOSE
Reiterating the principles and commitments already expressed and adopted in the Gender Equality Policy, in respect of personal dignity, privacy, and the rights of every individual, and considering the specific nature of audiovisual production activities (pre-production, on set, post-production, travel, and work on location), Movie Magic S.r.l. recognizes that violence and harassment are incompatible with its values and maintains zero tolerance for any form of discrimination, harassment, bullying, mobbing, abuse, or gender-based and general workplace violence. The purpose of this policy is to:
- Prevent, identify, continuously monitor, and stop instances of harassment, bullying, gender-based and general violence;
- Encourage and facilitate individuals who experience or become aware of such incidents to report them;
- Provide support to those reporting or experiencing such situations, offering assistance and protecting them from any retaliatory acts.
SCOPE AND APPLICATION This policy, adopted by Management in collaboration with the Steering Committee under UNI/PdR 125:2022:
- Applies to all individuals working for or within Movie Magic S.r.l.: employees, collaborators and consultants, freelancers, technical and creative staff involved in productions, workers under all types of contracts, and interns acting on behalf of the company;
- Applies to candidates in selection processes (including any castings organized by the company) and to former employees;
- The principles, values, and guidelines outlined herein must be respected by all stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, agencies, creative and technical partners, service companies, host facilities, and other business partners interacting with the company.
This policy applies to situations occurring in the workplace or in connection with work-related activities (including pre-production, filming, post-production, site visits, and travel), including but not limited to:
a) Workplace locations, on-site or remote, including public and private spaces (e.g., offices, production studios, sets, temporary locations, meeting rooms); b) Areas where employees receive pay, take breaks, or change clothes, such as:
- Break areas, dressing rooms, makeup/hair areas, restrooms, etc.;
- Outdoor areas adjacent to company premises or nearby;
- Parking lots;
c) Work locations of partner companies where staff are seconded or collaborating (e.g., client offices, agencies, partner studios, technical services); d) During business trips, travel, site visits, shooting days, corporate events, and in-person or remote training activities; including hotels or catering facilities booked by the company or visited for business purposes; e) Through work communications, including those enabled by information and communication technologies; f) During commutes to and from work using public or private transport.
PRINCIPLES
This policy derives directly from Movie Magic S.r.l.’s Gender Equality Policy and its fundamental principles: • Zero tolerance for all forms of violence and discrimination; • Protection of individual dignity and of the environments in which Movie Magic S.r.l. operates (offices, sets, locations, studios, and digital workspaces); • Safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment; • Active prevention through training, monitoring, and respectful language.
DEFINITIONS
In accordance with current legislation and UNI/PdR 125:2022, “harassment” means any unwanted behavior, including episodic, that has the purpose or effect of: • Violating an individual’s dignity; • Creating an intimidating, humiliating, hostile, or degrading environment; • Negatively affecting psychological, physical, or professional well-bein.
Examples of harassment include, but are not limited to: • Verbal harassment: sexist comments, allusions, insults, intimidation, judgments on appearance, offensive or demeaning language (including operational contexts such as sets, casting, creative meetings, or production briefings); • Non-verbal harassment: gestures, staring, intimidating behaviors, display of offensive or inappropriate material, including content shared or shown in physical or digital work environments; • Physical harassment: unwanted contact, assaults, any form of physical abuse, including in high-density operational contexts (sets, backstage, technical areas, travel); Movie Magic International s.r.l. Harassment and/or violence may or may not be linked to acts of discrimination.
PREVENTION, AWARENESS, AND TRAINING
Movie Magic International S.r.l. implements preventive actions to ensure a safe workplace free from discriminatory behavior, harassment, and/or violence, also in operational contexts typical of audiovisual productions, through: a) Internal and external dissemination of the Gender Equality Policy; b) Analysis of the work environment and risk assessment regarding harassment and/or violence, including sets, external locations, travel, shifts, and co-presence of internal/external staff; c) Promotion and implementation of awareness and training actions for all Movie Magic S.r.l. employees on bias, harassment, and workplace/domestic violence, emphasizing zero tolerance; d) Promotion of concrete actions to prevent and counter gender-based violence and, more generally, inappropriate workplace behavior; e) Provision of a shared reporting mechanism for employees and collaborators.
REPORTING AND HANDLING OF REPORTS
All employees of Movie Magic S.r.l. who become aware of or are victims of discrimination, harassment, or violence may report incidents through mechanisms communicated to staff and collaborators. All reports on these topics will be forwarded to and managed by the Steering Committee, which will analyze the content Movie Magic International s.r.l. This policy is reviewed annually alongside the Gender Equality Management System (SGPG), as required by UNI/PdR 125:2022. Any updates are approved by Management upon the Steering Committee’s recommendation.
